The care of a child during some time by a person other than the child's' legal parents, typically performed by someone outside the child's family is called daycare or childcare. It is typically an ongoing service during specific periods, such as parents' time at work.. The service is known as child care in such countries like UK, Australia, NZ, some states in Canada, and child care or day care in North America. The majority of childcare (daycare) is still performed by the parents, in-house nanny or with a help of informal arrangements with relatives or friends. Usually, child care in the child's own home is traditionally provided by a nanny, extended family members such as: uncles, aunts and grandparents. Child care is provided in nurseries or crèches or by a nanny or family child care provider caring for children in their own homes. It can also take on a more formal structure, with education, child development, discipline and even preschool education falling into the fold of services. Child care or Day care is similar to babysitting, but usually Childcare is called care of an older children.
