The defense industry, also known as the military industry, embody government and commercial industry engaged in researching, development, manufacturing, and service of military equipment, devices and facilities. It consists of:

1) defense contractors - business companies or individuals who can provide products and services to a military unit of a government;

2) the arms industry, which makes guns, ammunition, missiles, military airplanes, and their connected expendable materials and systems;

3) private military contractors: privately owned firms which provides logistics, manpower, along with other expenses for a military force.
